Frances S. Watto, 92, of Nesquehoning, entered into eternal rest Friday, February 23, 2024 in Greenwood Center for Nursing and Rehab, Tamaqua. She was the wife of the late Eugene M. Watto who passed away March 2, 1979 and the companion of the late James Marouchoc who passed away January 18, 2018. Born in Hauto, she was a daughter of the late Francis Oscar and Anna (Gimbi) Bengtson. She was a United States Army Veteran serving with the 9829th TSU-CE staff during the Korean War. She was employed in the local clothing factories but was proud to be a housewife. She was a member of the former Zion Lutheran Church, Nesquehoning where she was a past president of the Ladies Auxiliary and past president of the Church Council. She was also a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Lansford, a member of the Nesquehoning Legion and a member of the Nesquehoning VFW Post 8008. She was a Past Matrons of the Lehigh Valley Eastern Star. Frances enjoyed making chocolate easter eggs and working with ceramics but especially loved caring for the children in her neighborhood.

Surviving are a sister Louise Banko and her husband William of Bethlehem, PA; a sister-in-law Kathryn (Bower) Watto of Swiftwater, PA; many nieces and nephews; and many great nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by sisters Dorthy Vaiana, Betty Davis and Grace McGorry.

A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, February 28, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. in the St. John Lutheran Church, 1 E. Abbott St., Lansford, PA 18232 with Pastor Marjorie Keiter officiating. Military interment will be held in Sky View Memorial Park, Tamaqua. Family will receive friends Wednesday morning 10-11:00 A.M. in the Church.
